Purple Line

The Purple Line operates as an important link in providing public transportation to a rural service area of Middleburg to Bear Run Health Department area. The Purple Line started in July 2009 and provides the riders including many of which are elderly and disabled to employment, medica services, shopping and work trips.  The route starts at the intersection of C.R. 218 and S.R. 21, travels west on Alligator Blvd, north on Hibiscus Ave., south on C.R. 218 past Middleburg Bluff Apartments and Briarwood Apartments, then it travels north on S.R. 21 to the Orange Park area, servicing Bear Run Health Dept., Adult Counseling, and St. Johns River State College. The current route allows the Purple Line to cover 95% of the Middleburg area. The Purple Line serves as a connector to the Red Line and the (NAS JAX) Blue Line allowing itís riders to depart Middleburg at a later time and still commute to Orange Park, Green Cove Springs or Jacksonville. In May of 2010, the Purple Line was extended to have a second departure time in the a.m. at the request of several riders. This route is consistently used individuals at our senior center as the only means of going grocery shopping. This route currently makes two trips in the morning and one in the afternoon. St. Vincentís new, state-of-the-art, hospital in Clay County which opened in late 2013.
